'Milk Matters' - Bottle Refusal

Having worked with bottle feeding issues for many years, I have full empathy for anyone who experiences bottle refusal. If you don’t know what to do it is frustrating and highly stressful!
The good news is that with my intuitive and gentle, baby-led approach, I’m confident that your baby will learn to enjoy bottle-feeding or breast and bottle feeding. The success rate to date is exceptionally high.

‘Milk Matters’ – Bottle Refusal is ideal when:

  • Your breastfed baby (2-8 months) flatly refuses the bottle
  • Your baby drinks up to 60mls then refuses again
  • You’ve tried different bottles/teats/feeds etc…
  • You miss that quality time with your older child(ren)
  • Your partner wants to be more involved
  • You just want a little breastfeeding freedom
  • You need to go back to work or to a special event

'Milk Matters' - Bottle Refusal in detail

I arrive in the early morning and spend a little time with both parents, so that you can show me around and ask initial questions etc. I also like to respectfully introduce myself to your little one without any pressure. When your baby shows clear signs of hunger I offer the first bottlefeed. I will need to do this once the breastfeeding mother has left the home and the chosen person stays with me. This is the ideal time for mum to go for a spa treatment, see friends or spend precious quality time to reconnect with an older sibling.   The person chosen to be coached takes on the overall care of your baby.  It’s quite possible that Suzy stays overnight, sometimes a little longer. The whole consultation is completely baby-led. I will keep a particularly attentive eye on your baby’s physical and emotional well-being. I’m keen to respect your little one’s emotional needs whilst gently encouraging bottle feeding. I also try to make sure your baby has a fun time too. I will keep you, the breastfeeding mum updated, almost in real-time, so that you are well informed of feeding, sleeping and nappy content throughout the consultation period.

Once your baby has bottle fed with the family member, I ask you to come home and I provide you with a written  summary of the advice offered before I leave your home.  The text support service starts immediately as i leave so that you can update me on progress made, ask questions as they arise and benefit  from my support for a further 7 days.

Useful information

Please note: Once the booking is confirmed, you will be sent a feeding questionnaire to complete and return to me within 48 hours of your booking confirmation.

I am sensitive to your baby’s emotional well-being. If the analysis shows there has previously been a feeding trauma (tongue-tie surgery, reflux, prolonged bottle refusal, allergies etc.) or your baby is exclusively bottle fed, I may suggest you book a slightly longer and more detailed ‘Milk Aversion’ consultation.

The Milk Matters consultation is designed solely for the purpose of creating positive bottle-feeding associations in a healthy, breastfed baby. Sleep issues must be addressed at a later date when your baby is feeding well.

The in-home consultation fee applies for consultations that take place within a 10-mile radius of Stamford, Rutland. For other areas, please give your postcode, (full address if located outside the UK), and check travel time/cost with me.

The fee is calculated on the basis that I will be a working guest in your home and you are respectfully requested to provide food, parking, and accommodation for the full duration of the consultation. If you have limited sleeping space, please call me so that I can work with you to find a solution.

Prior to requesting to book (completing the booking form below) please do not hesitate to book in a free, initial 15 minute introductory call to discuss your specific case.
